Frontera de Cristo Border Ministry Pilgrimage

Frontera de Cristo Border Ministry Pilgrimage
February 23-28, 2019

Please consider being a part of a pilgrimage to the ministry of Frontera de Cristo on the US border at Douglas, AZ and Agua Prieta, Sonora state in Mexico. Davis Community Church has long supported the ministry of Frontera de Cristo on the US border. In June, 2016 we hosted Mark Adams, Miriam Maldonado, and the family in order to learn more about the work and concerns of this ministry.

The Compassion, Peace and Justice ministry of DCC is now organizing a pilgrimage to visit Frontera de Cristo. As issues of immigration remain a matter of great concern we hope to have a group form DCC who will immerse themselves in the activities of this border ministry for five days, to listen and learn about issues addressed in this ministry.

The dates of this trip are February 23-28, 2019. Participants will have the opportunity to:

  • Sunday worship at Liro de los Valles
  • Tuesday evening weekly vigil at the border wall
  • Wednesday scripture study with the church community

Other opportunities will include walking the migrant trails in the Sonora desert, visit the Just Coffee cooperative, visit the Migrant Resource Center  (including deportees) and we may have the opportunity to tour a Border Patrol Station.

Our on-site cost will be $50 registration and $75day which includes lodging in a dorm-style facility. (Motel nearby is an additional cost.), three meals each day prepared by women of the church. This daily cost includes honorariums, translators, and program fees. Estimated cost: $425 plus transportation to Tucson.

If you would like to be a part of this pilgrimage, please contact Donna Mason. Those who become a part of this group will meet together for a period of preparation for the experience. Registration deadline: January 1, 2019
