Stephen Ministry training is about to begin at DCC.

Davis Community Church is a Stephen Ministry congregation.

What does that mean, you may ask?  We have a thriving ministry of lay people who are trained to meet with people who are having a hard time in life.   A Stephen Minister meets weekly with a Care Receiver and listens, supports and prays with them.   We also support our Stephen Ministers with two meeting a month of supervision and continuing education.  To become a Stephen Minister we ask for you to do a 50 hour training.  That consists of one weekend retreat January 14-16, 2011 and then each Wednesday evening for two hours.  The commitment is significant, but the reward, immeasurable.

It is time for our Stephen Ministry program to recruit new ministers!  Are you the type of person that folks like to talk to when things are going poorly in their lives?  Do you hear, “Thank you so much for listening to me.” from friends and family?  Is there a little nudge within your heart to consider Stephen Ministry this year?  We would love to talk to you about that! Just call one of our leaders:

One way in which Davis Community Church’s vision, "Beloved of God, let us love," is carried out is through the
Stephen Ministry program. It is a one-to-one ministry. Since 1994 DCC has had an active program. Lay persons are trained to become careful, loving listeners who bring Christ’s healing power to those who are hurting. They keep all conversations confidential. Stephen Ministers make a long-term commitment to walk alongside another who is going through a transition in their life such as divorce, loss of a loved one, depression, job loss, struggling with their faith, childbirth, terminal illness, surgery, legal problems and other difficulties for as long as needed. If you are interested in serving as a Stephen Minister, establishing a relationship with a Stephen Minister, or simply want more information about DCC's Stephen Ministry, please contact JoAnn Diel ( This e-mail address is being protected from spambots.
