Integrated Spirituality: Two Winter Solstice Explorations
As a part of a larger exploration of Integrated Spirituality – practices that engage mind, body and spirit – Davis Community Church is offering two spiritual explorations of the winter solstice. Across traditions and cultures, the practice of acknowledging the sacred in the seasons is universal. In the Christian tradition, the liturgical season of Advent and Christmas bring light to the darkness.
The winter solstice classes offered in December complement the season and invite spiritual exploration of wintertime as a metaphor.
Winter Solstice Soul Collage invites participants to explore parts of themselves that are ready for transformation, made possible through the hibernation of winter. Soul Collage is a creative collage creation process that requires no artistic skill, is available to all and requires only an open mind and heart. The class will be facilitated by Michaela Daystar, a certified Soul Collage facilitator, on Saturday, December 16, 10 AM – 1 PM.
Preparing for Winter Solstice: Honoring Darkness and Light, a seasonal retreat evening of reflection, artistic expression and sound bath meditation using singing bowls, will be on Tuesday, December 19, 6:30 – 8:30 PM. Experience retreat facilitators Brenda Mohr and Elizabeth Fulmer will lead the evening retreat.
Both events will be in the Davis Community Church Fireside Room at 4th & C St., downtown Davis. Each class stands alone. The cost is $40 per event, including all materials, with partial scholarship funding available with advance arrangement. Registration and a full schedule of Integrated Spirituality events is available on the website at dccpres.org or by calling the church office at (530)753-2894.
Throughout the fall and winter, DCC is offering Centering Prayer, Reiki, Soul Collage, Yoga and more, all designed to explore further the holiness of wholeness, a broad vision for spiritual practices that blend Christianity with various wisdom and faith traditions.
