Parables of Jesus

Sundays beginning November 5
9:40– 10:25 am in the Library
Led by Jim Goss

Jesus was a storyteller—he told parables. These stories address the social, political and economic conditions of his time, and sought to provide listeners with a new vision of God. We will read and discuss his parables and seek what insights they have for our time, while we investigate what significance they had for Jesus.

Dr. James Goss is Professor Emeritus from California State University, Northridge, where he taught for 32 years in the Religious Studies Department. His areas of interest are New Testament (the historical Jesus), religious themes in American fiction, Process Theology, and Jungian psychology. He is a member of the Society of Biblical Literature, the Jesus Seminar, and is a retired ordained Elder of the United Methodist Church.
