Stephen Ministers – The After People

….after the phone call you hoped you’d never receive.

…. after friends & family have heard your story too many times, but you still need to talk.

….after the relationship.

….after you find a “pink slip” with your final paycheck.

….after the memorial, when the flowers have faded and the family has gone home.

Stephen Ministers journey alongside someone after they receive challenging news. They are laypersons trained to provide one-to-one care to persons experiencing a difficult time in life such as grief, depression, divorce, job loss, chronic or terminal illness, relocation or myriad other challenges. Stephen Ministers have a passion for sharing Christ’s love and care. They are trained and equipped by DCC Stephen Leaders to provide non-judgmental listening, encouragement, thoughtful reflection, emotional and spiritual support.

We are training a new class of Stephen Ministers in January. If you sense that God might be calling you to serve as a Stephen Minister, the next step is to gather more information about the program by speaking with Elisa Stone, Minister of Congregational Care.  Reach her at (530) 753-2894 or elisa@dccpres.org.
