Classes & programs

Spirituality Broadly Defined

At DCC, we provide a full array of opportunities to explore spirituality through  the practice of meditation and classes in dreamwork, Centering Prayer, Bible study, yoga, art, music, personal growth, spiritual direction, Reiki, and other ways to enhance personal well-being.

It is our mission to welcome all. While many classes are free, some have a fee. A portion of the fees charged go directly to support DCC. Cost is never a barrier. You are invited to pay what you find to be affordable. You are also invited to "pay it forward" with a donation to the Scholarship Fund, as you are able.

You are invited to experience new expressions of Christian life and spiritual practices from a variety of traditions.

Orthodox Christianity based itself upon the Logos doctrine of the Gospel of John that let to the notion that outside the Christian church, there is no salvation. Had the Sofia speculation been adopted as normative instead, it is possible that Christianity would have seen itself as one of Sophia's children and Jesus as one of her sons. The class will explore these ideas in more detail as they are found in biblical and non-biblical material.

  • How to read the bible responsibly

with Chwi -Woon Kim, Ph D

    October 15, 2023, 12 noon - 1:30 p.m.

    Fireside Room

The Bible occupies a central position in the Christian life, given its rich contents, diverse

interpretive traditions, and various receptions. Despite the centrality of the Bible in our faith, not

every reading/interpretation of the Bible has equal validity. Christian history shows that some

interpretations caused immense harm over the years. For the vitality of our faith community, we

need to read the Bible responsibly. Reading the Bible responsibly includes considering a critical

and community-oriented reading of the Bible. Read more about Chwi and the class.
