At DCC Kids we are all about introducing kids to the love of God. We strive to do that in every interaction, every lesson, every week. We want all kids at DCC, no matter what their age, to know they are safe, they are loved, and they belong.
Birth – Kindergarten
Birth – 1 Year: enjoy pure play-time with loving caregivers who tailor the time to each child’s needs.
2s and 3s: enjoy a Bible story, then make a craft that reflects the story. Lots of time for play is included!
4s and 5s: discover the truth of a Bible story, then practice that truth with a game, and a craft. We believe in an active, hands-on approach to learning with young children. So, you can plan on a lot of jumping, singing, dancing, playing, and laughter laughing in every experience. Every Sunday is different, but we consistently teach three things: God LOVES me, God MADE me, and Jesus wants to be my FRIEND forever.
Sunday School lessons happen during the 10:30 service. At the 8:30 service, and between services, we offer childcare.
1st – 3rd Grade
Enjoy a Bible story, then make a craft that reflects the story. Lots of time for play is included!
Our kids programming begins at 10:30 in family worship. Early on, there is a kids “Discovery Time” where all the kids come to the front for a special chat with a pastor. After this, kids join their teachers and travel to class as a group. If your child is new, please accompany them to the back so you can fill out a quick form and meet their teacher.
Then the fun begins! The kids head to room 5 where caring adult leaders talk with kids and lead opening games to introduce the theme of the day, then they watch a video with a theatrical presentation of the theme and the Bible story of the day. Afterwards, the kids play a game, or try a challenge, or make art, and they always participate in discussion that links what they learned with how it impacts their daily lives. Kids love this program because it’s fun, and it helps them get to know their leaders and peers in new ways each week.
4th – 6th Grade
Summer is here! For the months of June, July, and August, all kids going into 4th-6th are invited to attend church with their families. Once September arrives, the 4th-6th start at the 10:30 service with their parents, then head to room 1 after Discovery Time. Leaders guide discussions about life, about Jesus, and about how those overlap. Join us as we have fun watching videos, snacking, and talking! Hope to see you there!

Bagels and Lemonade
You’re invited to join us on the playground on the second Sunday every month for Bagels and Lemonade. Let the kids get a snack and play together while you chat with other parents! During inclement weather, we meet inside the lobby of the nursery wing, right off the playground. Our play yard is part of DCCNS, so it’s large and safe and perfect for letting the kids burn off some energy!
Family Service Saturdays
Families that serve together, stay together! Each quarter, families gather together on a Saturday morning to serve elderly members of DCC. From yard work, to window washing, to cleaning out cars; you name it, we do it! As many hands make light work, we’ll usually serve two people before enjoying lunch together and heading our separate ways.
Becoming a Village
We all want to be part of a village–those kindred spirits who will celebrate your victories and support you through the rough spots. If you crave that connection, and you relish insights on life from someone in a different life stage than you, we invite you to join us in Becoming the Village. Together, we are seeking meaningful intergenerational connection! Maybe you feel a void where there ought to be kids in your life… or maybe you live and breathe kid, and could use a little back-up! Whatever your life stage, the Village welcomes you! So far, we’ve had two Bingo nights, set up story-reading dates, enjoyed an intergenerational conversation circle, crafted our intentions for the new year, and compiled a kickin’ recipe book! Keep an eye out for our next event!
Each summer, DCC partners with other similarly-minded churches in Davis to bring in Mt. Cross Day Camp! The churches rotate hosting the week-long camp, where college-age staff from Mt. Cross in Santa Barbara come and deliver camp right in our town. Kids age 3-5 enjoy the half-day preschool camp, and grade school kids have a blast from 9am to 2pm each day singing songs, learning Bible stories, and playing wild games. Parents enjoy a presentation from the kids on Thursday night, along with an all-camp ice-cream social. Friday wraps up with a water-play day! For more info on registering, click the “contact” button at the bottom of the page.
Each Friday in the music room, kids ages 5-8 from all over Davis get together and sing! We teach basic music theory, rhythm, and choir expectations that kids can take with them as they age. Hopeful and positive messaging is at the core of all our music, and kids have a great time singing and playing rhythm instruments. Performance opportunities happen a few times a year, as families are available. The best part is that it’s free! Come join us any week. No audition necessary.
Little ones and their caregivers are invited to come and play! Each Monday and Wednesday morning from 10-11:30, we meet in the nursery wing to play, make friends, and sing songs. The program is drop-in, and free. All babies and toddlers ages birth-age 3 are welcome. Childcare for older children ages 3-4 is available in an adjoining room so that caregivers can focus on building their relationship with their littlest one. We follow the DJUSD calendar, and hold play school whenever school is in session, so come join us! Playschool Experience is a joint program run by Empower Yolo with support from DCC and DCCNS.
