DCC Music Groups
Minister of Music, Emma Turnbull
Conducted by Emma Turnbull, the Chancel Choir is a mixed ability group with an extensive repertoire, including William Byrd and Thomas Tallis as well as contemporary composers, such as Craig Courtney and Dan Forrest. The choir leads DCC’s 8:30 am worship service but also sings once a month during the 10:30 am service. If you have a love of singing and a desire to connect more deeply with God through music, come and join us on Thursday evenings, 7-9 pm, in the Music Room.
This group was formed in 2002, by people who were looking to explore new ways of enhancing worship through music. Currently, the band uses singers, guitars, stringed instruments and keyboard players to provide music for the 10:30 am worship service on Sunday mornings. The music has a more contemporary feel, and the band is always looking to expand and try new things.
This is a lively and talented group of 5-9 year-olds, open to the entire Davis community. The choir meets on Fridays, 3:45 – 4:30 pm (5-6 year-olds) and 4:15-5:00 pm (7-9 year-olds), and Emma Turnbull teaches breathing, singing, and some basic music theory. The choir has enjoyed performing with the other DCC musical groups during Christmas, Easter and more. No audition necessary. Fun and free!
Conducted by Norma Meyer for over 40 years, this choir plays a 4 1⁄2 octave set of English handbells, along with hand chimes. They play arrangements of well-known hymns and songs once a month during worship services and participate in concerts with other local handbell ringers.
