Stephen Ministry

Stephen Ministry is a program of our congregation that equips lay persons to provide one-to-one care to those who are experiencing all kinds of life needs and circumstances, both in our congregation and wider community.

  • the terminally ill & families
  • those grieving a death
  • those with a job crisis
  • the separated or divorced
  • those facing life transitions
  • those in spiritual crisis
  • confidential care
  • All information is sent directly to our Minister of Congregational Care, Elisa Stone. Information is kept in strict confidentiality.

Stephen Ministers are committed people who…

  •  express God’s care through their lives to others
  • receive 50 hours of initial training in important care ministry skills and concepts
  • are commissioned as Stephen Ministers after completing their final training
  • visit another person regularly and dependably and offer support and care
  • participate in regular support and supervision under the guidance of trained Stephen Leaders
  • are committed to preserving the confidential nature of the caring relationship
  • serve for at least two years
  • receive continued education and skill building throughout their years of service

About the leaders of Stephen Ministry

Stephen leaders are lay persons who have completed a seven-day Stephen Series Leader’s Training Course and are commissioned to lead the Stephen Ministry of our congregation.
