In-Person Centering Prayer
Centering Prayer is a practice of silent prayer and meditation based on the contemplative practices of early Christians. Individual responses vary and this prayer of the heart can be an enriching experience in opening up to God’s love. We will use Fr. Thomas Keating’s teaching as well as the expression of other modern-day mystics.
The groups enjoy two readings, taken from a variety of faith and wisdom traditions, followed by two periods of silent meditation. The sessions end with the John Philip Newell version of the Lord’s Prayer and a brief discussion.
